Gallery of Dietetic Interns
|
Committed to mentoring and fostering leadership for the dietetics profession, I serve as a preceptor for interns from the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital and Texas Woman’s University dietetic internship programs. Over 100 interns have worked with me in the past 15 years. During this one-week nutrition communications rotation, they learn about communicating nutrition messages effectively to consumers by writing magazine articles and blogs, creating videos, posting on social media and participating in mock media interviews and speaking at schools and other sites. You can watch a selection of their videos and interviews here.

Nutrition Communication Grant

In 2010 Neva endowed the Frederick Green Memorial Internship in Nutrition Communications to provide a grant of approximately $3500 for a nutrition and dietetics student to work full-time for 6 to 8 weeks during the summer with a registered dietitian nutritionist who is a member of the Academy specializing in nutrition communications. This grant honors her uncle, Frederick Green, who for 60 years was a Central Texas farmer/rancher on land originally purchased by Neva's great-great grandfather when he settled in Texas in the 1800’s.
